A study community where every student's question is checked by a teacher before it is seen.

The Community Forum is a safe place for students, teachers and parents to ask questions, share resources, run quizzes and polls, and help each other. Teachers approve posts before they appear, mark the answers that are right, and children are kept safe throughout.

A student posts a question in the class community.

  2. Checked

Personal information, bad language and signs of distress are looked for.

  3. Approved

A teacher approves the post before it is published.

  4. Answered

Classmates answer, and the person who asked can accept the best one.

  5. Verified

A teacher marks the answer as correct, so everyone knows which one is right.

Every part of the forum, built for students and kept safe for them.

Each block below covers one part of the module. Together they make a community students can use without being exposed.

Students ask, answer, share and vote, all in the class where they belong.

Questions, discussions, resources, events and wiki pages each have their own post type. Students answer each other, react, bookmark and search by tag. Notices and circulars reach groups without leaving the forum.

  • Post types: questions, discussions, resources, quizzes, polls, events and wiki pages.
  • Answers and comments, reactions and bookmarks.
  • Tags and search.

Every student and parent post is approved by a teacher before anyone else can see it.

Pre-moderation holds each post until a teacher approves it, and an edit is checked again before it shows. Moderators can hide or remove posts that break the rules, and a teacher can lock a thread that has gone off track.

  • Pre-moderation: a student's or parent's post is published only after a teacher approves it. Edits are checked again.
  • Reporting of posts and comments, with moderators deciding to hide or remove them.
  • Teachers can lock a thread.

Automatic checks look for personal details, bad language and signs of self-harm before a post goes anywhere.

Phone numbers and addresses are caught before they are published. Bad language is filtered, and any sign that a child may harm themselves is held back at once, with the safeguarding lead alerted privately.

  • Automatic filters for personal information such as phone numbers and addresses, bad language and self-harm signals.
  • Self-harm alerts go privately to the safeguarding lead at once.

Classmates help each other, and the answer that is right is marked for everyone.

Students answer, and the person who asked or the teacher can accept the best answer. A teacher marks the answer that is correct, so students learn the right thing and not just the first thing said.

  • The person who asked, or the teacher, marks the best answer as accepted.
  • Teachers mark answers as verified, so students know which answers are correct.

Verified answers come from teachers, so students can trust what they read.

A teacher checks an answer against the lesson and marks it verified. Students can see at a glance which answer has been confirmed, and wiki pages keep the verified version with a full history.

  • Wiki pages written together, with version history and revert.
  • Verified answers shown beside the question they answer.

Quizzes and polls get the class talking, and the answers stay hidden until it is time.

Students and teachers run quizzes and polls. Quiz answers stay hidden until a student has attempted the quiz, so the question still does its job.

  • Quizzes and polls, with quiz answers hidden until a student has attempted the quiz.
  • Events and resources shared with the group.

Parents see their child's class, and can ask questions without posting as students.

Parents see the community for their own child's class or batch, and they can ask questions there. They cannot post answers or comments, which keeps the space focused on the students.

  • Parents can ask questions only, which keeps the space focused and safe for students.

Each class is kept inside its own group, and each institution's community stands on its own.

A post is seen only by the poster's own section, class, programme or batch, so nothing reaches the whole institution by accident. Each institution's community is kept completely separate from every other one.

What sets the forum apart from an open social feed.

Each of these is part of the module itself.

The forum is connected to the rest of the student's day.

The class a post belongs to comes from the same records as attendance and learning.

Built for students, teachers, parents and the people who keep them safe.

Each role sees the part of the forum that belongs to it.

Questions people ask about the Community Forum.

What is the Community Forum?

It is a study community for students, teachers and parents, where students ask questions, share resources, run quizzes and polls, and help each other. Teachers check the posts and verify the answers.

Are student posts checked before they appear?

Yes. A student's or parent's post is published only after a teacher approves it, and edits are checked again. Automatic filters look for personal information, bad language and signs of self-harm.

What happens if a post shows signs that a child may harm themselves?

The post is held back at once, and the safeguarding lead is alerted privately.

Who can see a class's posts?

Only the poster's own section, class, programme or batch. Parents see their own child's class community, and each institution's community is kept completely separate from every other's.

Can parents post in the community?

Parents can ask questions, inside their child's class community. They cannot post answers or comments, which keeps the space focused and safe for students.

How do students know an answer is right?

Teachers mark answers as verified, and the person who asked or the teacher can mark the best answer as accepted.

See how one class's questions would be checked and answered in the forum.
